ACIS Bicycle Club

Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri. Oommen Chandy, officially launched the Allianz Bicycle Club in Trivandrum, as 56 cyclists set off on t he Allianz branded bikes for the first time. With the cheers and applause of thousands of IT professionals still ringing in their ears and requests from various Trivandrum-based companies on how to replicate the initiative, it was evident that ACIS had hit upon an idea with universal appeal.

The network of 56 cycles is kept on eight cycle racks strategically placed across the 500-hectare Technopark campus. It runs on a unique SMS-code generated lock system.

An idea born through Team-based i2s, Allianz Bicycle Club provides a healthy and socially responsible alternative to driving for 30,000+ IT professionals in Trivandrum Technopark, where ACIS is based. The ‘Why Not Cycle for a Green Environment?’ initiative was conceptualized by ACIS after taking into consideration parking woes, pollution, traffic congestion and the sedentary life faced by employees of the Technopark.

"A bicycle club within Technopark is an encouraging alternative to driving, which offers a safe, environmentally friendly way of commuting. It has a positive impact on employee wellbeing, and is an example of ACIS’s commitment to social responsibility." - commented Rakesh Gupta, Managing Director of ACIS.

Amit Passi, Head of Business Processes, added: "This initiative also makes it easier to travel between buildings within the 300-hectare campus. With ACIS offices spread across four buildings and over 1,100 ACIS employees, cycling between facilities will make life happier and more productive."
